Escapement Magazine
Великобритания
Добавлен 3 ноя 2011
ESCAPEMENT is an online magazine aimed at individuals with a passion for watch collecting, who appreciate “the finer things in life”. It is owned and operated by Angus Davies and his wife, Heidi Davies. Angus regularly writes reviews on timepieces that pique his interest, whilst Heidi edits all of his work. In addition, guest writers often contribute to ESCAPEMENT, providing an alternative view of the world of luxury.
In a society where the perfunctory manufacture of low cost goods is driven by a need to satisfy the demands of the mass market, traditional skills and craftsmanship are often overlooked. Moreover, a misconception that the consumer is merely paying a premium for the brand name alone is misplaced in many instances.

Raymond Weil founded his eponymous company in 1976. The Genevan-based firm has gained a reputation for making watches that deliver a high-quality price ratio. It has produced both mechanical and quartz watches. And from a personal point of view, I’ve liked some models and been less keen on others. NOMOS Glashütte Tangente neomatik 41 Update and the Calibre DUW6101
Просмотров 634Год назад
In this video, I talk about the NOMOS Glashütte Tangente neomatik 41 Update and in particular its supremely slender movement the neomatik Caliber DUW6101.The movement proffers the convenience of being automatic and yet, it remains little thicker than the brand's slender hand-wound movements. Usually on watches measuring over 40mm in diameter, the date disc isn't at the edge of the movement, but...

IWC Portuguese Automatic - a watch review by Angus Davies
My favourite brand (by far even) stunning technically and in design. Add to that an excellent order proces, and general customer service. Nice to see a video, that actually goes into the tech side.
Hi @flemmingsorensen5470 - I totally agree. Me, my wife and daughter all have a NOMOS. Fabulous watches! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
dose it have the swing movements ????????????????????????????????
@@toddd7444 The latest versions have the NOMOS Swing System - you may like this article: escapementmagazine.com/articles/nomos-glashutte-calibre-duw-3001-part-one/
great video, love the on wrist shots
@@chocolate3193 Thank you for your kind words 😀
What is the expected price of this watch because i have this, i have a 168/300
Hi, I don't think the watch is still in production. I shot this video about 11 years ago. I loved the watch!
not many youtubers cover this brand! Thank you for your reviews!
Stunning pieces! They need more recognition.
I totally agree. I still yearn to own a Breguet.
Nice but too expensive!
Nice one!
Thank you, you’re very kind.
Your product video is good but need SEO optimize for increase traffic .
I personally love Breguet timepieces. Very underrated. I would love a rose gold Marine big date watch
I totally agree. I love the Marine too. Have you read our review? escapementmagazine.com/articles/breguet-marine-tourbillon-5577-watch-review/
Thanks for the video, very nice to see. I have the same one with a Sun-Lay dial, which runs 4 seconds too fast + every 6 months. Yours is from January 2013, judging by the serial number. Mine is from 2006 and also has the smooth rotor (without decorative stripes), but mine also has a very large screw that secures the rotor, yours has a plate with 3 holes. great watch, I do everything with it, swimming etc. You have a nice video channel, I will follow you. By the way, I am also a Nomos fan, I bought my first one in 1995.
Thank you @eelcob6815 for your generous comments and for kindly following our channel. I love Grand Seiko and crave more models (I own two). I’ve visited a couple of Grand Seiko’s production sites and they were very impressive. Last year, I visited NOMOS for the third time - they are also brilliant. I currently have a Club on order. The articles that I write for our website: ESCAPEMENT MAGAZINE + these videos focus on watches that I admire. Quite simply, if I think a watch or brand is wonderful then I’m happy to talk about it. Thanks again. Angus
@@ESCAPEMENTMAGAZINE Thanks ! You know Rotalini on RUclips ? About the Nomos movements ? I own 3 GS The spring drive & SBGX293 quartz (antimagnetic 2017) & SBGW031 (Seiko dial 2012)... Also a Ahoi 3001 cal ! So cool !!!

I bought the Meistersinger Primatik 365 limited edition with the white dial and power reserve indicator. I absolutely love it. 😊
Thanks for the review
Thank you for your kind words. I love wearing these watches - they are fabulous value.
In the video, I said the Antide Janvier made double pendulum clocks featuring two movements, I meant to say two pendulums (or oscillators). Sorry for any confusion.
Awesome review. Thank you! Do you mind sharing your wrist size?
I recently bought the limited edition Meistersinger Primatik 365 and I love it. 😊😊
Hi @stableianF1oracle - great choice. I've worn that model over a number of days and thought it was superb.
@@ESCAPEMENTMAGAZINE I caught mine in a sale at about 45% discount. Meistersinger should perhaps consider lowering the prices to encourage people to try them.
What's the power reserve and the price
Hi @rickjason215 - the power reserve is at least 100 hours and the watch retails for £10,700. See my written review for more details - escapementmagazine.com/articles/glashutte-original-senator-excellence-panorama-date-moon-phase/
Great content. Going down the QF rabbit hole...
Thanks for this review. I am considering purchasing this model and have found your comments helpful.
PF is the new JLC
Hi @9er - I rate JLC very highly; however, I would compare PF with the ‘Holy Trinity of watch brands’ . In fact, I think PF watches are superior to PP. I’ve toured all of PF’s sites, including Vaucher, Atokalpa and Elwin - they are super impressive. If I could afford a Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon with a Milano blue dial, I would be a very happy watch geek indeed! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
What size is your wrist?
19cm. This a supremely comfortable watch.
My wrist is on 16.5cmm unfortunately @@ESCAPEMENTMAGAZINE
This one is fascinating. Your description truly did it justice. I’m definitely adding this to my collection, and I agree about the blue.
PS: I too have an adorable and much loved Spaniel.
nice video
Thank you for your kind words. Stay-tuned there will be many more video in the coming months 🙂
great product video
Its a phenomenal watch, its just way to bloody big!
I must be honest, I am a big chap, 19cm wrist circumference.
Gibt es schöneres Uhren!
They are wonderful watches - beautiful and mechanically superb! Thanks for commenting.
So great to see you! The intelligence which you bring to your reviewing is for the most part sorely missing from the RUclips venue.
Dear Howard, thank for your kind words - it’s much appreciated.
Are these made in Italy, Switzerland, any Chinese parts or is the case milled in China before it goes to Europe ?
Hi, the watches are made in Switzerland. I genuinely don't know if there is any non-Swiss content. What I can say is that I liked the watch, it looked attractive and considering its relatively modest price, it felt well-executed. I must also point out, that I do not have any financial relationship with the brand or any of its associated companies, hence, I'm just being honest. I hope that helps and thanks for your comment.
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for sharing this video! ☺
No, thank you for making fabulous watches!
Hi I've just purchased a carrera calibre 5, simple but stylish and not too flash, nice everyday watch. I've just got to get use to automatic. Love it. 👍
Hi Darren, it's a lovely watch - TAG Heuer is making some incredible products of late. I hope you enjoy it. I intend to publish more videos regarding TAG Heuer in the coming months - stay tuned!
Thank you Darren for your kind words. A good friend of mine bought the day-date version and he loves it. TAG Heuer makes some incredible watches with some delightful nuanced details. Enjoy your watch!
Very informative. I learned a few new things about the brand. I'd like to hear a little more about the Tetra someday.
Hi Greg, thank you for your kind words. I've noted your request about the Tetra and will make a point of publishing a video on the model. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, best regards Angus
@@ESCAPEMENTMAGAZINE I'll be looking forward to that!
Thank you very much for sharing your video!
Thank you - I hope my genuine admiration for the brand comes across.
@@ESCAPEMENTMAGAZINE it does!
Nomos is a great brand. Their Achilles heel are the sliver-thin handsets. It’s just a preference, but I love that clean, modern asthetic that many of their watches have. I briefly considered the Autobaun. That’s an underrated watch.
Hi Jeremy, I share your enthusiasm for NOMOS. I like the thin hands but I do prefer blued hands. It would be boring if we all shared the same opinions. That said, I LOVE the Autobahn, especially the version with the white dial and blue accents. I’m currently waiting for my Club Sport 42mm in blue - can’t wait! Thanks for taking the time to comment and keep collecting watches 😀
Thank you for such an informative insight
An informative video, thanks for that Angus!
I'm glad you like it. Definitely one of my favourite watches of late.
👍
I've held that watch, and it's gorgeous! I just wish it's a little bit smaller for my small wrist.
Just bought one of these and got it for a steal. Classic looking 18k vintage inspired watch is something I’ve been after for a long time as a daily to rotate through the collection. I never even heard of this watch or seen one until a few nights ago. Cant wait to pick it up and get it on the wrist.
Thanks for your short review, Angus. Although your review is from a while ago, I only purchased my watch, "pre-owned" this past July 2020. Everything you say about the watch is true. My dial is dfark blue, with a stainless band. I am able to read it anytime of day easily. It is truely a beautiful timepiece. Thanks again.
Hi Joel, thank you for your kind words. I remember this watch, I wore it for some time and loved it. I hope you enjoy years of ownership delight. Angus
Great review- you covered a lot of bases. Such a great watch. I’m it does look a tad retro, but not too much. Doesn’t look like an old, tired design-especially because of that dial color. I am torn though because I like the distinctive dial layout of her Epurato, but I love the Nautilo’s unique blue dial and the contrasting bezel Was going to check them out in Italy this summer, but our trip as been pushed to next summer (we hope the virus allows) but I’m now leaning towards the Nautilo.
Does it have a screw-down crown?
VARUN U - it’s a while since I wrote about this watch, hence I cannot answer your question with any certainty. I did produce a written review which may provide you with more information: www.escapementmagazine.com/articles/tag-heuer-carrera-100m-calibre-7-glassbox-39mm.html/
Beautiful 3 Hander Carrera, but price point a bit high for most and yellow gold is not that in demand anymore at least in watches, they should have offered a quartz HEUER BRANDED GLASSBOX SS edition for US market in the 15- 1700 dollar range , cheap to produce and highly profitable at the same time .
For a yellow gold it’s actually quite rosy. Way more rosy to the eye than it appears in this video.
Thanks for the review. Can you tell me what time the day night indicator switches over? Is it am/pm at 12 or is it a true "day/night" switching at 6?
Dear John, Thank you for your comments. To be honest I did not know the answer when I first received your message. However, I have looked into it and found my archived video footage. This shows me adjusting the second time zone - the day/night indicator switches at 6. I hope this helps. Angus
+Angus Davies thanks so much for going out of your way to check! I had assumed it would be if they were using a sun/moon silhouette but stranger things have happened at higher price points so I had to check. I'm very interested in the dark dial on leather - it has more than a touch of Glashutte Original Panoreserve about it in that configuration. Depreciation is a major concern for me with an Oris at this RRP though, and I can't see them being huge sellers so I may be waiting a while to find one on the used market.

This a very nice watch. Can you tell me if the Capeland 1063 is the same as Capeland MOA 1063?
+Norbert Rivera Hi Norbert, the Capeland 10063 is the same as the Capeland MOA 10063 - the "MOA" term is an alternative to the word "reference' used by Baume & Mercier. I love this watch. Thank you for enquiry. Best wishes Angus
